The Rosewood House – A Transitional Housing

Rosewood House is a five-bed transitional for at-risk and homeless for veterans needing housing, job training and placement, and nutritional support in Clinton, MD. Clients are provided residential care and training in a home like setting with a goal of acquiring permanent housing, teaching independence and permanent housing within the home and in the community.

Responsibility of the Rosewood Home

  • Rosewood House will provide necessary training for the resident to meet individual needs. These individual needs will be determined and addressed by the program Director and group home supervisor.
  • Opportunities for development of social, self-help and community living skills will be provided.
  • The residents will also be allowed free time for personal activities.
  • The above areas of active treatment will be coordinated by the staff (including consultant) and the resident to develop skills so that self-sufficiency of each resident will be obtained.
  • Staff, or other advocates, will be available 24/7 to aid the resident with money handling budgeting, purchasing, dressing, personal hygiene, and transportation, etc.
  • The staff will share in the responsibilities of housekeeping chores and meal planning and preparation.
  • All staff members hold appropriate and necessary degrees, as per their specialization, to provide optimal support to our clients.
  • Residents will be assisted in acquiring medical, dental, and emergency care.
  • The residents will be expected to administer their own medication following a doctor’s prescription.
  • Rosewood House encourages visits from relatives and/or friends and encourages visits to families’ or friends’ places of residence.
  • Rosewood House will provide space for each resident to have personal belongings.
  • A neat, clean homelike environment will be always maintained.

Rosewood House Resident Services

  • Services will include supportive counseling, co-ordination of external services, assistance with personal care and the activities of daily living.
  • In addition, we will provide three nutritious meals daily as well as coffee, tea, juice, and snacks available throughout the day. Residents benefit from the support of peers who share similar issues, challenges, and concerns.
  • We strongly value resident involvement in the decisions; therefore, residents will be included in a decision made in the house, and residents meet regularly to discuss elements of the program that affect their daily lives. Staff will support residents in making informed choices regarding relationships, medications, finances, diet, and provide support for their educational and vocational desires.

Social Life at Rosewood House

  • The residents will enjoy an active social life including an annual Summer BBQ, Thanksgiving Dinner and Holiday Party attended by residents, family members and friends. Bingo, arts and crafts and planned outings are also popular and contribute to the sense of fun and community at Andrews House.
